Ulises Toirac on protests in Cuba: "Those people in the street are the people"

"I am not inciting or calling anyone to violence. I call on the authorities to take into account the desperate situation of the families."

The comedian Ulises Toirac He stated that the recent protests that occurred in Cuba are the logical consequence of both the crisis and the people's lack of hope, and asked the government to resolve the situation.

After learning of the demonstrations in Santiago de Cuba, Ulysses assured that I was already waiting for them.

"It is an extreme economic situation for an increasingly large number of people without a drastic change in sight (the one that would be needed) in the direction that can take us with some minimum of hope," he wrote in his profile Facebook.

"More serious than the lack of hope is the failure to foresee it. in the future," he added.

The comedian clarified that He is not inciting anyone or calling anyone to violence., since he hates it and considers it only as a last and desperate resort.

"It is not my role to 'warm up' or beat likes at the cost of violence. If I do anything it is a called on the authorities to take into account the desperate situation of the families. Those people on the street are people. It's the aunt, the brother, the niece, the grandfather, the sister-in-law. I ask for perspective and equanimity," he stressed.

"Hopefully things don't get out of control in a catastrophic way. They are already out of control. It's been a while," he concluded.

In other publication, Toirac described "with all the sarcasm" the supposed tranquility in the streets, in obvious mockery of what the regime's profiles usually do on the Internet whenever there are protests.

"Nothing's wrong, gentlemen. There are smiling faces on the street, a mother happily carries her daughter, schoolchildren sing on their way to school and there is a lasting and widespread well-being," he described with irony.
