“What is clear is that there is no transparency either in the editorial office or in the waters,” a client of the state company concluded ironically.

The company Aguas de La Habana has generated confusion and concern among its customers by first publishing an informative note indicating that after the recent heavy rains the water from the Palatino tanks - which supplies five municipalities - was NOT suitable for consumption and then edit the note saying the opposite, that it was suitable.

The confusion was brought about by other official sources such as the Government of Havana or the journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, who had to clarify that the note had been “corrected” and that the water was drinkable.

Aguas de La Habana explained that “the level of the Canal rose sharply and the turbidity of the water it provides increased, which reaches the Palatino tanks by gravity.”

“Since this incident, all the relevant water quality tests were carried out, which indicated that it is NOT suitable for consumption”, said the first note.

However, the edited version removed the word NO, and did not offer an errata about the previous post, which said otherwise.

Several Internet users took screenshots that confirm that the initial version did indeed say that the water was not drinkable.

The note also says that "the level of turbidity will begin to decrease as stability in the climate begins and the rains cease," and that the situation affects the municipalities that receive the supply of water from the Palatino tanks by gravity. water.

These municipalities are Diez de Octubre, Cerro, Plaza de la Revolución, Habana Vieja and Centro Habana.

LThe contradictory information has generated discomfort and concern in dozens of Cubans who have expressed it in the different official forums in which it has been disseminated.

“The publication is edited to indicate that it is suitable for consumption. When they initially said no. I recommend that those who can buy bottled water for a few days or boil and filter the water. Don't really know what they're trying to do“, advised an Internet user.

Others pointed out that they have not received water for days or that it was already cloudy before the meteorological event.

“That is, that Is cloudy water drinkable? Please! Every day it is bad, imagine it is murky”; “And what do we do? Give the complete explanation"; "I imagine that Aguas de La Habana and the Government of Havana have consulted with the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba"; "The most advisable thing is to boil it well just in case"

"Cloudy water but suitable for consumption, hmm"; "We're screwed with that now with dirty water"; "Hey, yes or no?"; they were suspicious.

"First they didn't and now they do and they don't even clarify that they were wrong. A little respect, please, that one shares the information with family and friends"; "They just edited, right? "Then they say they should be guided by official sources, when they changed from Not Suitable to Suitable without even acknowledging and apologizing for the mistake made," others protested.

"What is clear is that there is no transparency either in the editorial office or in the waters", one customer concluded ironically.
