Cuban beach volleyball couple at Challenger final in Brazil

The Cubans will face the Brazilian pair of Evandro and Arthur Lanci in the final game.

The Cuban couple that competes in theChallenger of the Recife 2024 World Beach Volleyball Pro Tour, in Brazil, advanced to the final phase of the tournament, where they will face the Brazilian duo.

Noslen Díaz and Jorge Luis Alayo, beat the couple from Great Britain, made up of brothers Javier and Joaquín Bello, 2 set to 0 this Sunday.

According tomatch statistics, the Cubans were better than the British in most aspects of the game, only equal in the errors committed by both teams, with 10.

Thus they took revenge for their only setback in the event, suffered against the British themselves during the initial phase, when they fell in three sets (21-23, 22-20, 15-13).

With this victory, the Caribbeans surpass their performance in 2023, since in April of that year they took fourth place in the event itself, which that time was hosted by the renowned Ipanema beach.

The twins are one of Great Britain's top pairs and won the bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Joaquín is a five-time medalist in theFIVB World Tour, winning his country's only gold medal, and is a four-time British champion.

Currently, Díaz and Alayo occupy position 31 in thebeach volleyball world ranking, with 4056 points; while the Bello brothers are positioned in 36th place, with 3716 points.

The Cubans' rivals for thefinal agreed at 2:00 p.m. Brazil time, they will be the localsEvandro and Arthur Lanci, winners of the last edition of the Challenge and currently located in 12th position in the world ranking with 5860 points.

This sporting event has a total of 18 stops in the 2024 season of theVolleyball World Beach Pro Tour. It started in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

According to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), until the first half of the calendar (June 10) the circuit will offer points to the qualifying ranking towards the Paris Olympic Games.
