The island of Cuba is home to a wide variety of endemic species, but among them, the Cuban crocodile (Crocodylus rhombifer) stands out not only for its imposing presence, but also for its unique characteristics that differentiate it from other crocodiles in the world.

This reptile, which rarely exceeds 3.5 meters in length, has evolved in a way that has led it to be more terrestrial compared to its aquatic counterparts. Its longer legs and short, wide snout are testament to this adaptation.
