“Just now they found some guys here with a briefcase containing dog heads. A few of the dogs that have been lost in San José de las Lajas, which are not few, were inside that crate. “They killed them to sell the meat.”, stated the animal activist.
The activist stated that a neighbor in the area who had lost her pet was the one who made the complaint.
Yenney Caballero managed to enter the house of the dogs' murderers and published shocking images in which an ax could be seen, as well as the heads, organs and blood of the pets.
In addition to the three detainees,The police would be trying to locate three other accomplices, two women and a man.
“What these unscrupulous elements did is criminal. “They killed the vast majority of community dogs in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque province, as well as many animals that had families and that until today did not know the whereabouts of their pet.”Caballero denounced in a text published alongside the images.
The activist denounced thatSeveral families who had bought the meat thinking it was pork or mutton went to the police station.
He noted that even “there are sick children,” and issued a warning to people who tend to buy food of dubious origin.
“The Cuban Animal Movement demands justice, that the full weight of the law falls on these criminals who do not even deserve the air they breathe. These elements should be off the street, I left the police because I punched one of them. I told them everything I felt. There are three left to catch, two women and a man,” he described.
“The pain I feel is great, there are little dogs that took great care of themselves”added Caballero Peña and requested a change in the Animal Welfare Decree in Cuba that implies a toughening of sanctions in similar cases.
In an update on the case this Friday, Yenny Caballero explained that several animal activists went to the police station with a veterinarian who treated many of the dogs and took their statements there. Two people who had bought the meat also showed up at the station, one of them a man who bought ten pounds.
The activist - who shared photos of some of the dogs that were murdered - still specified that two women and a man remain fugitives from justice.
