Cuban discus thrower Yaimé Pérez performs the longest throw in the world since 1989

The Cuban surpassed the 70-meter mark in several attempts in the competition held in San Diego, California.

In the third round, the discus landed further and with a winning mark, up to 73.09 meters. The other throws were 69.13 meters and 71.50 meters, before culminating in a failure.

Pérez, who was the main figure that led Cuba to the World Athletics Championships in the American city of Eugene, Oregon, held in August 2022,He left the delegation shortly before returning toto island.
