According to the official report, the 10 Cubans who were in an irregular situation in the country were transferred to the border post of the Guatemalan Institute of Migration, located in the municipality of Agua Caliente, in the department of Esquipulas, near the border with Honduras.

In March, Guatemalan authorities detained 18 irregular Cuban migrants traveling on a bus in the municipality of Cuilapa, located 65 km from the capital of the country.

The Cubans were part of a group of 51 undocumented individuals, which also included 21 Ecuadorians, seven Dominicans, and five Nepalese.

In mid-February, the authorities in Guatemala expelled a Cuban migrant who was there illegally and was part of a group of 26 foreigners from Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, and other countries.

By the second month of the year, at least 12 Cuban migrants had died during the dangerous journey to the United States.

On February 3, nine Cubans died in a tragic accident in Guatemala, a 24-year-old lost his life during a maritime crossing, and two women passed away suddenly in Mexico.
