The city of Santiago de Cuba mourns the passing of Gabino Jardines Cisneros, an important accompanying guitarist, who died this Saturday morning at the age of 76.
Since the beginning of her career as an artist, she has participated in the most important events in Santiago de Cuba, supporting the declaration of the city as a creative city of music, reported the state-run Tele Turquino.
One of his last performances took place at the Casa de la Trova in Santiago de Cuba, during the inauguration of the Eva Griñán event, in honor of the late artist who had been his stage partner for many years.
Jardines accompanied several generations of great Cuban singers with his guitar, including Elena Burke, Omara Portuondo, Beatriz Márquez, Farah María, and Ela Calvo, among others.
It also lent its strings to new talents such as Giselle Lage, Annie Garcés, Luna Manzanares, Eduardo Sosa, and others.
Additionally, they shared the stage with the Guatemalan Álvaro Torres, as well as the Dominicans Johnny Ventura and Sonia Silvestre.
Until the final moments of his life, he was by the side of the Santiago singer Griselle Gómez.
Jardines began his artistic career as a clarinetist in the musical band of the Don Bosco church, according to Gonzalo González, a communicator from the Santiago-based Estudios Siboney of EGREM, who expressed his sorrow on Facebook over the artist's passing.
The musician from Santiago participated in student festivals and then began his professional career as an accompanying guitarist. He also studied saxophone at the Esteban Salas Conservatory.
He participated in the most important events held in the city of Santiago de Cuba, including the Pepe Sánchez Trova Festival, the Golden Boleros, the Matamoroson, and the Fiesta del Fuego.
"Fly high, dear Gabino, as your guitar continues to accompany the stars that will be with you today to welcome you on this long journey. Thank you for your friendship and beautiful music," wrote González in farewell to the renowned artist.
Recently, the city of Santiago de Cuba also mourned the passing of two beloved sons.
The renowned doctor Silvia Carlota Jústiz Hernández, who dedicated more than six decades to pediatric pulmonology, passed away last April.
"With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Silvia Carlota Jústiz Hernández, an esteemed pediatrician and teacher to generations, who dedicated over 60 years entirely to the noble work of saving lives," published the provincial health authority of Santiago de Cuba on Facebook.
The passing of Daniel Antonio Colás Soulary, a young baseball hopeful, in Santiago de Cuba this Wednesday, has deeply affected his family, friends, and supporters.
“Today, on May 1st, he would have turned 23 years old,” reported the communicator Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook, highlighting that the young man had a promising future, according to those close to him.
