Woman arrested in Miami after her three-year-old daughter was seen barefoot and alone on the street

The woman has a one-month-old child who was alone in the house on a blanket on the floor, dirty, malnourished, with a rash and severe diaper rash.

A Miami woman was arrested after her three-year-old daughter was seen walking barefoot and alone in the street, and her one-month-old son was discovered in her home malnourished and with injuries from poor hygiene.

Shelby Jung, 32, was arrested on Sunday and charged with child neglect after it was found that she had left her two children unsupervised.

That day, around 5:15 pm, the girl was found alone near Northwest 17th Avenue and 81st Street.

The Police tried for more than an hour to locate the parents, but finally they were only able to contact Jung's boyfriend, who was supposedly in the care of both minors.

According to the man's version, his girlfriend had told him that she was going to the store with one of her children to buy diapers.

The woman arrived home on a bicycle around 6:30 p.m. When questioned by the police, she stated that she had left the children with her partner.

According to the arrest report, to which he had access WSVNUpon entering the home, the Police found that it did not have basic services such as electricity and water and described its conditions as "decrepit."

The newborn was on a blanket on the floor and there was no one with him. He appeared to be malnourished and had a large rash on his chin and severe diaper rash. Both he and his little sister were dirty.

Officers concluded that Shelby Jung "failed to provide and protect the victims with care, supervision and services necessary to maintain the victims' physical and mental health."

She was charged with two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. She is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $1,000 bail.

Authorities have not reported who currently has custody of the children.
