A Cuban woman living in Italy has turned to TikTok to earn money, since she needs to pay a debt which is in her name, although she claims it is not hers.
The young woman, called Well, began publishing a video every day on his account until the platform gives him monetization and thus raises the sum he needs.
"I need to get out of this problem as soon as possible, because I cannot spend six years having my name involved in a debt that is not mine," he said.
"Every day I will be posting a video and I need you to please watch it until the end. So TikTok detects that I am creating content and shows it to other people"he explained.
In a second video, Yani clarified that she was not forced to give her name, it was just that they did not explain to her the repercussions that her decision could have on her.
"These are the consequences of being a good person, so I advise you not to trust anyone when carrying out a legal procedure or give your name to do some work, since at least here in Italy it has many consequences," he stressed.
In the third recording, Clarified that He is not asking anyone for money., and that what she did was to help her husband, as anyone would do in her place.
"That happened in 2020, I was pregnant and we were in the middle of a pandemic. I gave my name of my own free will to try to help my family., since we were having many economic problems," he said.
"After four years we were able to close the work that had been done. Thinking that I would have no more problems, it turns out that I have a debt in my name and for which I will be paying for six years," he added.
More and more people are trying to make money on TikTok, which offers several avenues for content creators to monetize their time.
The platform usually pays between 2 to 4 cents per 1,000 video views, a very low figure, so the factors that influence profits must be taken into account. In fact, not all content creators earn the same, even if they have the same number of followers and views.
"There are other factors such as engagement, which corresponds to the number of comments, likes, shares and interactions that the content has", details the portal Sports world in an article published in March.
The location of the creator also influences, since TikTok does not pay the same in all countries. And also the type of content that is published, since the financial income varies depending on whether it is a comedy video, dances or another topic.
