Omar Toledano, considered the best handball player that the Cuban national team of that sport had, left a sports delegation in Mexico that participated in the Pre-World Cup of the discipline.
Several sports sources place the Cuban outside the Cuba team concentration. Among them, the journalist Francys Romero, who noted that the 29-year-old athlete is “the 6th athlete to leave a delegation in 2024.”
Toledano had been selected in the ideal team of the NORCECA tournament, next to the goalkeeper Magnol Suárez, Hanser Rodriguez (far left) and Angel Rivero (Right side). Cuba qualified for the 2025 IHF Men's Handball World Championship that Croatia, Denmark and Norway will jointly host.
Toledano was originally from Santiago de Cuba, and according to reports he was close to signing with the Sporting de Portugal club, under the auspices of the Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).
