Anitta loses 200 thousand followers for practicing Santeria and defends herself against criticism: "I have faith, I am not afraid"

The Brazilian singer has defended herself against criticism for her religious faith.

Anitta has lost more than 200 thousand followers after sharing black and white images practicing a Santeria ritual that are part of the video clip for her new song "Aceita." Accompanying these striking images, he shared a fragment of a speech by the Brazilian samba school Unidos da Tijuca for the 2025 Carnival, dedicated to the Orisha.

"Yoruba. Orisha. I am Longun Edé, the great crown prince of my parents' race! I have the sensitivity and intelligence of my mother and the bravery and cunning of my father. As a hunter and fisherman, I am my own nature. I am the the only one capable of uniting all worlds. I am the balance between men and women," reads part of the writing.

In response to these images of the "Envolver" singer, many of her fans stopped following her on Instagram. Faced with this mass reaction, the popular singer said: "I lost 100 thousand followers after announcing the clip in which I show my religion," clarifying that she practices Santeria.

But finally the singer lost more than double within a few hours, and after the premiere of the music video, and in the face of criticism and reaction from many, she came out in defense of her religion.

"I have talked about my religion countless times, but it seems that leaving a work of art forever in my catalog was too much for those who do not ACCEPT that the other person thinks differently. [...] When I receive messages of religious rejection and intolerance, I don't feel divine energy pouring into me, I feel the opposite energy. "I have faith, I am not afraid"said Anitta.

"I do not wish to punish or judge any of the people who attack me right now for exposing my religion. I hope they follow the path of evolution," he added in the comments.

In another writing that the Brazilian published on Instagram due to all the rain of criticism, she said: "I believe in God, Jesus, Orishas and others. And in my life I practice their teachings much more than people who humiliate others on social networks".

The Yoruba religion is one of the main religions practiced in Cuba, a series of spiritual beliefs that have spread throughout several Latin American countries, including Brazil.
