A young Spanish woman sparked debate on TikTok by giving her personal list of experiences and things she has learned from her Latino ex-boyfriends.
Using the popular phrase on social media "I am Spanish and..." the young woman, who goes by the name Sarita Langreo online and lives in Barcelona, joined the trend on platforms of sharing personal experiences.
"I am Spanish with ex-boyfriends who are Latino, and I already know the story about cousins," begins the video that has gone viral on the Internet, where among the comments, others shared similar viewpoints or reacted with laughter.
That her ex-mothers-in-law love her, that she should be given a job in the police because they know her, and that she controls vocabulary specific to her ex-partners - users did not stop pointing out that the ones she mentions are used in Colombia - are some of the ideas she expresses in her video.
"I am Spanish with Latino ex-boyfriends, and if it weren't for me, they wouldn't have known about pata negra ham; I am Spanish with Latino ex-boyfriends, and the next one who 'goes on vacation' to his country either takes me or doesn't go," are some of the phrases she says in the video, which she closed by recommending to "skip" the stage of being with a Latino."
Despite the stereotypical nature of these videos, which often border on discrimination and xenophobia, or users' tendency to generalize based on their personal experiences, the truth is that they are becoming increasingly common on digital platforms, where they tend to spark debate and reactions from users.
