Two Cuban children, one of them 11 years old, disappeared on Monday afternoon in Old Havana, and their relatives are urgently asking for help to find them.

An internet user identified as "Thalia Navarro" said on Facebook that the mother of the 11-year-old boy is known as Sailys, alias La Chiqui, and is "going crazy" looking for her son.

Regarding this, he asked people who want to join the search or have information about the case to contact the following telephone numbers: 5843 3104, 5200 2408, and 5583 0613.

According to information extracted from several Facebook profiles, the two missing children belong to friendly families and used to play together.

On Sunday, both were playing on the corner of Tejadillo and Cuba at around 3:00 pm with another child, said an internet user.

However, details about the circumstances of the disappearance are not mentioned, nor are the names of the missing persons, or other identifiers such as the clothing they were wearing that could help in the search.

In recent months, social media has shown that disappearances in Cuba are more common than acknowledged by the official discourse.

These channels have helped many families locate their loved ones in the face of a growing wave of violence and police inefficiency.

Last Sunday, a desperate Cuban father requested help on social media to find his son, an 18-year-old young man with a disability who has been missing from his home in Matanzas for six days.

Karen Fuentes López is autistic and has difficulties communicating, said the man.

Also, a young Cuban mother residing in the municipality of Nuevitas was reported missing in early May, after relatives and friends did not know about her whereabouts since she left that municipality heading to the city of Camagüey.
