The National Hurricane Center of the United States (NHC) warned of a low-pressure area in the southwestern Atlantic, near the eastern Cuban coast and Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic), with a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next few hours.

The NHC indicated in its communication that "favorable environmental conditions are not expected; however, slight tropical or subtropical development is possible as the low moves northeastward during the weekend."

However, the Cuban Meteorological Institute is forecasting sunny days with isolated showers throughout the national territory for this weekend.

The climate observations in the nearby seas are important when the region is just a few days away from the start of the hurricane season in the Caribbean.
