A 32-year-old Cuban woman named Cindy was murdered on May 18th in the Obrero neighborhood, San Miguel del Padrón municipality, Havana, as reported on social media.
Testimonials from relatives of the alleged aggressor indicate that there were records of abusive behavior, although specific details about the causes of the tragic event have not been provided.
In the Facebook group "La Cuevita," it was mentioned that the young woman was originally from Camagüey and had been living in Havana for the past four years.
The relatives' version is that this young woman was in a romantic relationship with the alleged attacker, and on several occasions she had been warned to end said relationship.
A supposed niece of the man said that the warnings had come from her mother to the murdered young woman, and also claimed that her uncle's behavior was habitual in terms of abuse towards women, and that he had been reported to the police on several occasions because of this.
So far this year, the platform YoSíTeCreo (YSTCC) in Cuba and the Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas (OGAT) have recorded 16 femicides on the Island.
This Thursday, a woman who was stabbed by her ex-partner in the city of Santiago de Cuba, in the middle of a public street and in the presence of one of her children, later passed away.
The woman was the mother of three children, one of them a son in common with the man who assaulted her.
