The youngest son of the Cuban star baseball player Lázaro Madera, who shares the same name as his father, recently left Cuba, as reported by sports journalist Francys Romero on his Facebook profile.

Madera Jr., 14 years old and a player in center field, "will seek to sign with a Major League Baseball (MLB) organization in the Dominican Republic," said the communicator.

He pointed out that the teenager will start a prior preparation, because he will only be able to sign from January 15, 2026.

During the recent national under-15 championship, he was a starter in the outfield for the Pinar del Río team.

His father, one of the great hitters belonging to a golden generation of Cuban baseball, experienced a few years ago the emigration of another of his sons and also a prominent player in the National Series, outfielder Osniel Madera.

"The decision to leave Cuba was to prove that I could indeed play at another level of baseball," he told CiberCuba in an interview in 2017.

Regarding Osniel's departure, his father Lázaro confessed in an interview with PlayOff Magazine that "he was very hurt when they left him out of the Cuban team."

The only thing he told me was: "in Cuba, I am not playing baseball anymore," he recalls about that important moment in both of their lives.

The next day, I went to look for him, we had a little meal, we started talking, and he insisted on not playing baseball anymore. That was between a Tuesday or Wednesday, and by Friday, I found out he had left and didn't even tell me. If he leaves and achieves his goal, let him do it," he recalled.

Recently, a work from the digital portal JIT claimed that Lázaro Madera never distanced himself from the stadiums and closely watched the steps of his son Lázaro, as he also did with Osniel.
