A fire broke out on Tuesday in the vicinity of the Guillermón Moncada cargo port in Santiago de Cuba, without the causes being clarified at the moment.
The independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada shared on his Facebook profile photos and a video showing a thick column of black smoke rising high from the flames.
According to him, several followers explained to him that this always happens at the port. "They are burning trash and they always set fire there," they told him.
Some readers claimed that the fire, visible from the other side of the bay, is due to the burning of the mooring waste from the loading of the ships.
Another person claimed that someone started burning boards and other things, and since the grass is dry, the fire spread.
So far, no information has been confirmed yet.
In the reporter's opinion, even if it is a "controlled" fire, it should not happen in that area. "They should look for another place to burn their waste," he stressed.
