They are asking for help to buy a device that will allow Ahittana to use a respirator at home during power outages.

The girl needs a hybrid solar inverter to be able to return home; it is the only way to ensure that power outages do not prevent her from using the respirator.

The activist Nelson Álvarez, known on social media as El Porfiao, asked for help this Wednesday to purchase a device for the girl Ahittana, which will allow the little girl to use her ventilator at home during power outages.

Ahittana, 19 months old and resident of Viñales, Pinar del Río, suffers from West Syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy that keeps her hospitalized and dependent on an electric respirator.

"The child has been discharged from the hospital, but cannot return home due to the risk of a power outage," Alvarez pointed out on Facebook, asking for help to buy a hybrid solar inverter that would allow the ventilator to be used in case of power outages."

"It is the only way he can return home to his family," the activist said.

Álvarez urged interested individuals to use the accounts 9205959879504109 (CUP) and 9235959873600758 (MLC), and confirm to the telephone number 52523871.

Finally, the activist shared the link to the open fundraising campaign to help this family on GoFundMe.

Marielys Pérez, Ahittana's mother, wrote last Friday on Facebook that the girl had been stable and that she practically had the medical discharge.

"Today she has been semi-sitting and very calm," he pointed out.

Last March, this mother asked for help to get a portable artificial ventilator for her almost two-year-old daughter, who had been hospitalized at the Pediatric Hospital of Pinar del Río since November.

"My daughter has been adapted since she underwent a tracheostomy and gastrostomy surgery on December 28, and I need it for the house. Please help me share this post," she explained on Facebook.

The case of this little girl has been particularly notable because she woke up after 22 days unconscious, bringing great relief and hope to family members, friends, and other Cubans who have been following her progress on social media.
