A Cuban woman who fled the island with her father when she was 11 years old returned with her family 30 years later.
"I never thought I would come back, but I achieved my dream of returning with my family, and my son was able to see where I was born and where I grew up until I was 11 years old," wrote young Ariadna Blanco on TikTok alongside a video compiling some of the moments she lived in her home country, from where she left with her father as a child "looking for a better future."
The Cuban woman had shared a few months earlier another post celebrating that her son had been able to meet his grandmother and the rest of the family on the island.
"After 30 years, I return to the land where I was born, and finally my child was able to meet all of his family," he said.
The reactions to her story were not long in coming in the comments on her posts on the network.
"30 years, I wouldn't want to go so many years without seeing them but well if I have to wait, so be it, congratulations, have a good time," said one user. Another, on the other hand, confessed her longing to be able to make the same dream come true: "I've been waiting for 20 years and one day I'll go like you to visit Cuba and take my children."
Ariadna Blanco, for her part, responded by expressing that, despite not having family in Cuba, the experience of getting to know her husband's family and remembering her childhood was very meaningful. "The truth is that putting politics aside, it was like when I went to Santo Domingo, an extremely poor country but with very cheerful people, I had a great time," she mentioned in one of her comments.
The reactions were varied, ranging from those who shared their surprise at the long time that had passed, to those who expressed joy and congratulations. "Now that's a number, 30 years, my congratulations," wrote a user, to which Ariadna replied: "That's right, basically knowing my home country."
