On Thursday morning, the body of a man with signs of violence was found next to a bridge in the city of Santiago de Cuba, as reported by journalist Yosmany Mayeta.

Apparently the man was beaten, strangled, and then thrown off the bridge known as El Elevado, explained a local source to the mentioned reporter.

"It's from the Altamira neighborhood according to their ID and what I heard the police officers say," added the witness.

Hours later, Yosmany Mayeta identified the victim by name, who adds to the growing wave of violence afflicting the country, particularly the city of Santiago de Cuba.

Carlos Santiago Larduet Salazar (Alias 'Sambia'), is the man who was found dead this morning under the 'El Elevado' bridge, at the intersection of Paseo Martí and 40th Avenue in the Nuevo Vista Alegre neighborhood," stated Mayeta Labrada, a resident of Washington who has become a key figure in understanding events in her province thanks to her extensive network of followers.

According to the testimony of a family member who requested to remain anonymous, on Wednesday night Sambia was at his relatives' house in the Nuevo Vista Alegre neighborhood sharing with them.

"He was here, all he was saying yesterday and the last thing was that he wanted to leave, that he wanted to see his daughter... And he said, 'I'm going to pee,' and never returned again," the source revealed.

The source indicated that Carlos Santiago Larduet - who was born and raised in the neighborhood of Planta - has two daughters, and it is presumed that he wanted to see his youngest daughter, who lives with her mother near the tourist road in the Altamira neighborhood.

After the discovery of the body, the relatives of "Sambia" were notified by the police about the appearance of the body, and they were taken to a hospital to identify his body.

According to the testimony of a follower of Yosmany Mayeta, a sister of the deceased man is currently traveling by bus from Havana to Santiago de Cuba.

His death has caused great shock among his relatives, as revealed by dozens of messages mourning his passing. Many also wonder when the violence will stop.

Until the closing of this report, no other details about the case have emerged. Official media outlets have not echoed the incident at this time.
