The average price of regular gasoline in the U.S. dropped 5 cents during the last three weeks, so now a gallon (3.8 liters) is being sold for approximately 3.25 dollars, according to AAA.
This decrease places gasoline costs at the lowest since mid-February. This is five cents less than a week ago and 20 cents less than the national average, which was $3.45 on Sunday, according to a press release from the entity.
However, crude oil prices rose nearly 4 percent last week, said Mark Jenkins, a spokesperson for AAA.
Industry analysts credit this increase to voluntary production cuts agreed upon by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries along with its allies, leading to a shortage in the oil market during the summer, as mentioned in the press release.
The place where the highest price was recorded was West Palm Beach-Boca Ratón ($3.45), Naples ($3.34), and Miami ($3.33).
The least expensive metropolitan markets currently are Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.05), Pensacola ($3.07), and Panama City ($3.07).
