A supposed pickpocket was arrested this Monday after stealing a cell phone from a woman on a bus on the P6 route in Old Havana.
The arrest took place at La Lechera bus stop, in Old Havana, according to the "El Cubano Fiel" Facebook profile, which is associated with the Ministry of the Interior.
The alleged thief was captured by the police after stealing the cell phone from the Cuban woman in the midst of the common commotion that arises on the buses of the island, due to the shortage of transportation and the difficulties faced by Cubans for their commutes.
According to this source, "they checked it and found the cell phone. When they inquired about the owner, that's when the lady realized her phone had been stolen."
El Cubano Fiel's version adds that "the woman got off the P6, thanked the officers for recovering her phone and stopping the pickpocket."
A week ago, a man was caught by a surveillance camera at the exact moment he entered a café in Santiago de Cuba and stole a cell phone.
The video clearly shows a middle-aged man taking what appears to be a mobile phone from a table in a cafeteria.
The person who shared the post on social media included images that clearly show the face of the alleged thief.
Another Cuban, living in the city of Matanzas, was accused of committing several thefts, on different days, which included electronic devices and a musical instrument.
On Monday, local residents captured an alleged thief in the neighborhood of San Pedrito, in the city of Santiago de Cuba; however, they had to let him go because the police never showed up.
