The government sends water truck and many police officers to a neighborhood in Old Havana after protest.

"The population is being served due to the water shortage," authorities said, alongside photos of a line of people waiting to fill their containers.

The Cuban authorities sent a water truck escorted by the police to a neighborhood in Old Havana where the population took to the streets to protest, after more than 10 days without access to water.

Several hours after the protest, the Municipal Administration Board of the area reported that the issue had been resolved with a water truck they sent to the location.

The protest took place on Monday at 9:00 pm at the intersection of Egido and Acosta streets, where the neighbors stopped traffic with stones and buckets to protest the water scarcity and lack of government response.

Despite the fact that the demonstration proceeded peacefully, the Police closely monitored the situation at all times, according to a video released by the independent media outlet CubaNet.

Witnesses stated that the claimants only went back to their homes when the water truck arrived.

The crisis with the water supply in that area is not a new problem, it is a situation that the residents of that part of the city have been dealing with for some time.

Last year, the neighbors of Egido street blocked the traffic of vehicles in another protest. Just like now, on that occasion the government silenced them with a water cannon to calm tensions, while the issues remained unresolved.
