Daughter of Carlos Massola denounces that funeral car took seven hours to arrive to pick up her father's body

The daughter of Cuban actor Carlos Massola reported on Wednesday that they spent seven hours waiting for the arrival of a hearse to pick up her father's body.

In a Facebook post, the young woman said desperately that she does not know how this could have happened. Her father passed away at dawn this Wednesday at their home in La Habana, and by 5:00 pm, the funeral car had not arrived.

However, the regime didn't take long to set up surveillance in the actor's building, who in recent years became a critical voice against the government and a defender of the rights of Cubans: State Security agents set up surveillance in the lower part of the housing building early in the morning, but did not bother to arrange the transfer of the body.

"This is the saddest and most shameful thing that can happen to a family member with a deceased person. Seven hours had to go by before they came to remove Carlo Massola's body. His daughter making this plea for help on social networks is ignominious. The funeral services in this country are completely incapable of carrying out decent work," criticized Cuban activist Yamilka Lafitta, known on social media as Lara Crofs.

Since early on, this young woman recognized the actor, whose death shocked the Cuban artist community inside and outside the island this Wednesday.

Diego Lázaro García Espinosa, a friend of the deceased artist, carried out several procedures related to the actor's death, including going to request the service at the Infanta funeral home. However, upon finding it closed, he was sent to the one on Zanja Street. At the latter, someone informed him that there were no hearses available to transport the body to the chapel and that the service would also be delayed.

García requested the help of the firefighters to lower Massola from the building due to the dimensions of his body, but they responded that they would only do so when the hearse arrived.

Massola's mother expressed that what she most desires is for them to take the body, so she can sit down and process everything that has happened, as she has been waiting with her son for the transfer since early morning.

The Cuban actor passed away this Wednesday in Havana at the age of 62. In addition to his acting quality, Massola strongly criticized the Cuban regime in recent years, who responded with censorship.
