A man was arrested this Thursday accused of leaving his three-year-old daughter at a CVS store in Miami, after stealing beer from the establishment.

The man, 58 years old and identified as Elpidio Amores, entered the store located at 170 Southeast 3rd Avenue with a stroller containing two children, a girl and a boy.

The man went to the beer section - located a few meters from the entrance- and while he was selecting the drink, the three-year-old girl got out of the stroller without him noticing, as revealed by Telemundo 51 quoting the police report.

After placing the beer on top of the car, the man quickly exited the store without paying, and without realizing that the child had been left behind in the establishment.

The shop assistants called the police after finding the girl alone in the place.

Realizing that the child was not in the stroller, the individual hurried back to the store and it was at that moment that the Miami police stopped him.

In addition to the theft charge, Elpidio Amores is being investigated by the Special Victims Unit due to the circumstances in which he lost sight of his daughter.

The Department of Children and Families will follow up on the children, as stated by the authorities.

The police have not provided further details on the children's condition or on any additional legal consequences for Amores, whose nationality has not been disclosed.
