The Santiago de Cuba pitcher Wilber Reina Lanchazo was hit in the face by a pitch on Saturday in the fifth inning of the game against Industriales, at Guillermón Moncada stadium.

Wilber Reyna collapsed on the mound from the impact, although he did not lose consciousness.

He was immediately transferred to the hospital's emergency department at the provincial hospital Saturnino Lora, where he was placed in the observation room.

The match ended with a 4-2 victory for Industriales, which left Santiago out of the championship semifinals.

It has been an epic comeback by the Lions, who after losing the first three games of the play-off, won the next four, an unprecedented event in the country at this stage of the tournament.

Shortly after Wilber Reyna's departure, with the score tied at one run, Roberto Acevedo hit a triple against reliever Yoendris Montero and gave Industriales the lead. In the next inning, Dairon Miranda hit another triple allowing two more runs to score, expanding the lead to 4-1.

In the seventh inning, the Wasps scored once again for the last time in the game.

Pitcher Maikel Taylor was the winner of the game, after allowing just two runs in seven innings and two-thirds, with six strikeouts and one walk.

The semifinals will start next Wednesday. The schedule will be known after this Sunday, when the winner of the match between Matanzas and Granma is known.
