Wall on the verge of collapsing in a building in Havana.

The structure, located on Dragones between Galiano and Águila, right where a taxi stand is located to go to other parts of the city, is completely destroyed and poses a danger to pedestrians.

In the umpteenth display of the complex scenario of many buildings in Havana, a video circulating on social media shows a wall on the verge of collapsing in front of the central park "El Curita".

The structure, located on Dragones between Galiano and Águila, right where a taxi stand to other points in the city is located, is completely destroyed and poses a danger to pedestrians, as can be seen in the complaint published by Martí Noticias on the Facebook social network.

In fact, it is a very busy area due to its proximity to Galiano and Reina streets, which generates great danger given the condition of the space and the deplorable state of its columns and beams. It also confirms the housing crisis in Havana, a phenomenon that extends throughout the country.

Precisely, this Tuesday part of the inner facade of the Instituto Superior de Diseño (ISDi) in Havana, which had been shored up and closed since 2022, collapsed, as reported by the digital newspaper CubaNet.

The authorities of the university center, located in Central Havana, communicated the incident in the morning through WhatsApp groups of students and professors, said a source who requested anonymity to the independent media.

Three injured is the initial toll of a collapse that occurred on June 21 in the capital as well, where a balcony collapsed onto a cafeteria in a very central area of El Vedado. The regrettable accident happened at El Tablazo cafeteria, located on 1st street, between C and D.

The Cuban Ismael Ramos Suárez was hospitalized at the Calixto García Hospital due to injuries sustained from the collapse of the roof of a building in Old Havana, following the rains that occurred last weekend in the capital of Cuba.

On their Facebook page, the Municipal Administration Council (CAM) reported that Ramos, 55 years old, received first aid from firefighters at the scene, as he had injuries on one leg and an arm.

Part of the facade and roof of a house on Calzada del Cerro in Havana collapsed two weeks ago, in an incident that adds to the series of collapses in Cuba in recent days.

The property, a two-story mansion from the 19th century, is located at number 1360 on the bustling avenue, between Patria and Saravia streets, and has been at risk of collapse for many years, according to local residents.
