Proud parents of their son’s participation in the International Mathematics Olympiad: “My brave warrior.”

The Cuban team consists of Karla Yisel Ramírez Garcel, Ricardo Molano Domínguez, Ailema Matos Rodríguez, Ián David Lorenzo García, Marcel Gámez Salvo, and Damiam Fuentes Campos.

A mother proudly revealed that her son, Ián David Lorenzo García, is part of the team representing Cuba at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad in Bath, United Kingdom, which will take place until July 21.

"Very proud of my son, my brave and persistent warrior, my life!" posted Miryorly García on Facebook, while sharing a photo of the Cuban team, made up of six young people.

"I'm very proud of this amazing team, of all these talented and dedicated young people; they deserve it! Wishing them great success!" remarked the excited mother.

The post was highly celebrated on social media, with most comments wishing the young Cubans good luck and success.

García also shared a video showcasing the official presentation of the Cuban team, which consists of the young members Karla Yisel Ramírez Garcel, Ricardo Molano Domínguez, Ailema Matos Rodríguez, Ián David Lorenzo García, Marcel Gámez Salvo, and Damiam Fuentes Campos.

José Raúl Lorenzo Sánchez, the father of the young contestant, also expressed great enthusiasm on social media for his son's participation in the prestigious competition.

“Very happy, after many months of preparation and intensive training to participate in this grand event of knowledge on a global scale, where more than 700 young people from over 100 countries are involved,” the proud father noted.

In 2023, Ián David Lorenzo García and Dalia Oliver Ballesteros won a silver medal at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Mathematical Olympiad held in El Salvador.

Lorenzo and Oliver accumulated 31 and 27 points, respectively, securing fifth place for Cuba with a total of 58 points, according to the results published on the competition's website.

That same year, two Cuban students won the bronze medal at the XXXVIII Ibero-American Mathematics Olympiad held in Brazil.

Karla Yisel Ramírez Garcell and Ricardo Miguel Molano Domínguez earned the bronze medal for their performance in the competition that brought together contestants from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal.
