The local government of the province of Sancti Spíritus, responsible for the celebrations of July 26 in Cuba, is promoting several projects, including a new decoration at the entrance of the city, a structure that has sparked outrage on social media.
The government-affiliated Radio Sancti Spíritus showcased a new decoration on Facebook, prompting some internet users to question and criticize this investment amid a deep crisis affecting the population's food supply.
Yanisley Rojas said, "Buy food so that the people can eat it; concrete structures can't be eaten."
"Only that because food, nothing," commented Gerardo Gelabert.
Orlando Álvarez questioned the investment: “At the very least, fix the roads, there is so much garbage. They report unnecessary expenses, for God’s sake. This is why this government is where it is.”
Recently, the official media reported on the rushed renovation of the Zaza hotel, presenting it as the largest construction intervention ever undertaken at the facility.
The Cuban regime has been failing to fulfill the housing construction plan for years, yet it has not wavered in the construction and repair of hotels, despite their low occupancy, particularly on dates the government deems significant, such as July 26th.
As the territory speeds up repairs and builds embellishments, a resident reported the poor quality of a yogurt purchased at a fair, which was intended for consumption by a minor. This prompted the Cuban to criticize the regime, questioning, "Do you think that's suitable for a child?"
Michel Alayon explained on Facebook that, during a fair in Sancti Spíritus, he bought a yogurt that he described as "like crap with bread flour."
