The police drama "Tras la huella" is suffering, just like Cuban society as a whole, from the growing exodus of artists. In recent years, several of the actors who have starred in this program have left the island permanently or spend long periods of time outside the country.
The dramatization, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), has featured well-known and popular faces from Cuban television since its early seasons, initially including Blanca Rosa Blanco, Jorge Alí, and Albertico Pujol, both of whom have been in the United States for several years; as well as Yamil Haled, Omar Alí, and Roberto Perdomo, the latter two making more recent appearances.
However, new absences are already noticeable, especially among the younger artists.
Giselle González, the actress who played Lieutenant Isabel, has been sharing posts on Instagram from Maryland, United States, alongside her husband and son for several months. According to a post from the portal Cubaactores, she confirmed in her stories on that social media platform that she will not be in the new season of "Tras la huella."
Recently, Maikel Amelia Reyes, the major Lucía in this dramatization, confirmed that she is in Spain without a return ticket to Cuba, so it remains unclear whether her departure will be permanent.
Although it is still unknown if it is permanent, actor Leonardo Benítez, who plays Major Julio in the police drama, is currently in Spain with his partner. However, like Maikel Amelia, he filmed the episodes of the season currently airing before his trip.
Oscar Ibarra, who made his television debut in an episode of "Tras la Huella" titled "Asalto en la madrugada," arrived in the United States last June.
The actress Edenis Sánchez, Officer Susel in previous seasons of "Tras la huella," has been living in Chile for years, where she has encountered many challenges but has not completely given up on acting.
Surely, next year we will see many new faces on screen in this crime drama of Cuban television.
