The video of a young Mexican rehearsing 'cubaneo' for when he visits the island has already accumulated over 11 thousand likes.
In the scene, shared on social media by his Cuban wife @sheilafgt, the young man is seen trying to walk with the 'rufa' or Cuban aguaje while imitating the accent or using some of the expressions or colloquial terms typical of the language there.
"Even walking is training," her partner says while recording him, unable to hold back laughter.
Among the more than a thousand comments following the video are the funny reactions, testimonials, and experiences of other multicultural couples.
"I am Mexican married to a Cuban and I went to Cuba and almost came back without him"; "Mine is also Mexican and I die laughing seeing him imitate my accent"; "Similarly, my husband is Mexican and he spends his time imitating the Cuban accent and I die laughing"; "My husband is Cuban and I’m the one who has to practice"; "I've seen the video like 20 times, it has me cracking up and yes, that's how they walk"; "At my job, the ones from Mx imitate me," some commented.
Others, however, did not seem very convinced by the imitation attempt: "Good try, but naaaa, it's a mandarina brand"; "You're doing well, brother"; "He has the walk"; "He's missing the chains, the rings, and his watch"; "Hahaha what a laugh. They think we talk like that or I don't know why we hear it differently, but we don't talk like that."
