On social media, many Cubans are linking the increase in the price of foreign currencies to the government's new measure of readmitting cash payments in dollars for certain services, such as booking tourist activities, which is in high demand during the summer months.

This surge in increases in the rates in the informal currency market in Cuba came after a sustained period of decline in the three currencies.
