In April, the arrest of another alleged drug trafficker took place on the island. The incident occurred in Santiago de Cuba, and it was local residents who apprehended the individual after a long chase through the streets of the city.

DTI officers escorted the handcuffed individual to the police unit, while several onlookers watched the scene.

A witness of the event said that the Police, in order to gain support from the public, lied by claiming that the man they were chasing was a mobile phone thief. They later changed their story and said he stole a wallet. In the end, it was an alleged case of drug trafficking in Cuba.
