A man sailing on a private boat discovered approximately 29.5 kg of cocaine floating in the ocean near the Florida Keys.
The discovery took place around noon last Saturday, about 11.3 km from Islamorada, Florida. The drugs, valued at over a million dollars, were handed over to the United States Border Patrol.
Samuel Briggs II, interim chief of the Border Patrol for the Miami sector, expressed his gratitude to the boaters who surrendered the drugs.
The Border Patrol shared a video on social media showing the seizure. The packages are decorated with the image of a bald eagle.
This finding is part of a series of recent seizures in the region. Earlier this month, divers found 25 kg of cocaine about 30.5 meters underwater off the coast of Key West, marked with the "Nike SB" logo.
