Lottery for Houses Opens in Miami-Dade for Low-Income Families

The housing lottery in Miami offers low-income residents the opportunity to buy homes at affordable prices with a low down payment.

Aspiring homeowners now have the opportunity to dream big and also win a house in Miami-Dade, at an affordable price and with a low down payment.

"The average value of a home in Miami-Dade County is close to 600 thousand dollars, which many young families consider unattainable. The Dream Homes Lottery is a commitment to make Miami-Dade a place where everyone can achieve their dreams," said District 8 Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.

Public Housing and Community Development of Miami-Dade County opened this week the program known as Dream Homes Lottery (Lotería Dream Homes).

This program offers aspiring homeowners the opportunity to purchase one of the two available houses located at 15300 SW 296 Street in Miami. The homes have 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. They have an area of 1,813 and 1,777 square feet, respectively, and are valued at $394,000.

The lottery gives qualified applicants the opportunity to secure the home of their dreams through a transparent selection process. Interested individuals can submit their application online from July 24 to August 7.

Miami-Dade County indicated the requirements to be eligible:

  • Have a minimum credit score of 580.
  • Household incomes equal to or less than 120% of the average income of the area.
  • Employment for at least two years or an equivalent source of income.
  • Commitment to use the property as the main residence for 20 years.
  • Availability of a down payment of 3% (approximately $11,820).

The applications will be selected randomly through a computer-generated process. Only one application is allowed per person, and providing false information will result in disqualification. Only two candidates will be able to win the lottery if they meet all the requirements.

The Dream House Lottery of Miami-Dade may seem out of reach, but luck is unpredictable. If you meet the requirements, participate.

Don't miss an opportunity like this. It's an option for many families seeking stability and affordable housing in Miami-Dade.
