The Cuban boxer Arlen López, double Olympic champion, has secured the second medal for Cuba at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, both in boxing.

Competing in the 80 kg category, López defeated the Uzbek Turabek Khabibullaev today in a closely contested match that secured him the bronze medal.

The fight, although somewhat lacking in excitement due to Khabibullaev's defensive strategy, culminated with López gaining a slight advantage in the third round.

"It was a tough fight, but I managed to stay calm and execute my strategy at the right moment," López commented after the fight.

With this victory, Arlen López becomes the fourth Cuban boxer to win three Olympic medals, joining the legends Teófilo Stevenson, Félix Savón, and Roniel Iglesias.

In addition, he stands as the eleventh Cuban athlete to achieve this milestone in the history of the Olympic Games and 11th of all time, noted sports journalist Francys Romero.
