Cuban athletes Leyanis Pérez and Liadagmis Povea missed the podium in the women's triple jump final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The players from Pinar del Río made it to the top eight after three rounds, but they were out of the medal positions after what the specialized site Swing Completo described as "a big flop."

The Dominican Thea Lafond won gold by jumping 15.02 meters, while Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts earned the silver medal with a jump of 14.87 meters. American Jasmine Moore took home the bronze by achieving 14.67 meters.

In fourth place was Pérez (14.62 m), and Povea (14.39 m) finished in sixth place, behind the Spanish Ana Peleteiro (14.55 m).

On Friday, Leyanis Pérez Hernández secured her spot in the final with a jump of 14.68 meters, positioning herself as one of the favorites for gold. Liadagmis Povea also shone with a jump of 14.39 meters, equal to today's performance.

Cuba's overall performance in the 2024 Paris Olympics has been deemed the worst in recent decades. Many of its boxers, seen as the great hopes for rising in the medal standings, were eliminated from competition right at the start of the tournament.
