The Cuban Yariulvis Cobas, who had recently finished third in the women's single sculls E final, left the delegation from the island attending the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Cobas, 33 years old, left the Olympic village recently, as confirmed by journalist Leonardo Ruiz from the sports portal Play-Off Magazine.
A few days ago, at the Vaires-Sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, Cobas won the first E/F semifinal with a time of 8:36.16 minutes, surpassing three competitors.
However, in the final E, she finished in 27th place in the single scull among 32 competitors.
Originally from the province of Guantánamo, Cobas has in her record two gold medals in the double sculls category at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara 2011 and Lima 2019. At this last event, she also won a silver medal in the quadruple sculls.
In Toronto 2015, he won a bronze in the double scull. He holds medals from the Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as from World Cups.
This withdrawal marks the first official drop from this Olympic event and the first abandonment of a Cuban reported during the Olympic Games since Rolando Arrojo in 1996, recalled sports journalist Francys Romero.
