A Cuban who was missing for several days after going fishing has been located.

The Cuban had been seen for the last time on Saturday night.

Yoslando de la Cerda Céspedes, a Cuban who had been missing since Saturday night when he went fishing with another family member from Playa del Chivo in Havana, was located alive, according to several sources on social media that had previously reported his disappearance.

"Good news. The man has been found. Thankfully, he appeared. Thank you all for your collaboration and help. A thousand thanks!" wrote Nahomy Velázquez on social media.

In the comments section of her post, in response to a question from a netizen, Nahomy Velázquez detailed that Yoslando de la Cerda -nicknamed "El Tosco" by his acquaintances- arrived at the beach "El Salado" in Artemisa on his rustic fishing boat.

"The tide swept him away and some fishermen found him in that area and helped him move forward. When he got to that place, some people helped him and well, that's when he called us and we heard from him," the source added.

Velázquez made the announcement alongside a previous screenshot of a desperate plea from the fisherman's wife, Thalía Zaldívar Domínguez, which was shared in numerous Facebook groups dedicated to fishing or residents in the eastern localities of the Cuban capital.

The news reporter, Niover Licea, specified that Yoslando lives in Casablanca, in the Havana municipality of Regla, and reported that on Saturday he went fishing with his wife’s uncle, and they were caught by bad weather, apparently related to tropical storm Debby, which was then moving through the Florida Straits.

Licea shared with her followers the audio that a close associate of Yoslando allegedly sent to her, which recounted that the Cuban was found covered in burns all over his body.

He specified that he arrived at a farm where the residents gave him food and milk, and from there he called his family.

It is a happy ending for a story that urges caution and to carefully observe the weather conditions before a day of fishing.

Previously, numerous internet users agreed in their opinion that the weather conditions were not suitable for fishing last weekend, as the tropical storm Debby had just formed near the coasts of Cuba, threatening torrential rains and coastal flooding.

It is not the first incident of this kind in recent months.

In January, two fishermen from Cienfuegos - an adult and a child - were rescued alive after being missing for five days at sea. In this case, after going out to fish, the strong swells and intense winds swept their boat away, and they were adrift until they reached Cayo Cigua, south of the province of Matanzas, where they were found.
