Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, candidates for the presidency of the United States, have already agreed on the date of their first debate: September 10, reported the ABC network.

The invitation was made by ABC News and confirmed by the Republican during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club on Thursday.

The current U.S. vice president and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris also endorsed this meeting ahead of the electoral day on November 5.

Former President Trump had hinted at the possibility of not facing Harris during a televised debate. Harris described his suggestion as "fear" and an attempt to back out of the debate.

According to the specialized site FiveThirtyEight (sometimes called 538), the latest polls conducted for the upcoming November U.S. presidential elections indicate a slight lead for Harris over Trump. It would be the first time that the polls give the advantage to the Democratic candidate.

This is a new scenario following Joe Biden's decision not to run in the elections and the official nomination of Harris as the Democratic candidate.

The political analysis and polling blog, which weighs the different electoral surveys from the United States, now shows a slight advantage for Harris over Trump, of 1.5%, and detects a similar shift in key states.

The analysis covered the various surveys conducted in the country from July 24 until this Sunday. If the initial difference was 0.8 points in favor of Harris, currently the Democrat's lead has expanded to 1.5 points (45.1% for Harris compared to 43.6% for Trump).

Since Biden's departure from the presidential race became known and Harris secured the necessary support for the Democratic candidacy, Trump has launched verbal attacks against her, referring to her with terms like "radical lunatic" and has labeled her as "the ultra-liberal driving force behind every catastrophe of Biden."

However, it is impossible to forget that these attacks are just a glimpse of what can come once they face each other head-on, as Trump is known for his ability to defame and politically defend himself, a formula that has worked for him to overcome his rivals in these types of scenarios.
