Alleged drunk driver crashes into pole in Santiago de Cuba with minors on board

Fortunately, the accident that occurred on Calle Trocha, corner of Calvario, did not leave any injured, despite there being children among the passengers.

A driver, allegedly drunk, crashed into an electric pole in the city of Santiago de Cuba on the afternoon of this Sunday, while carrying minors as passengers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the incident occurred on Trocha Street, corner of Calvario, in front of the pharmacy and the entrance of the Dr. Antonio María Béguez César Children's Hospital, more commonly known as "La Colonia."

According to eyewitnesses, neither the driver nor the minors were injured.

He indicated that apparently the driver was drunk and that they were returning from the beach. "The damage to the car seems to be a few thousand pesos," he specified.

Last Saturday, an accident that occurred in Holguín resulted in two adult fatalities and six injuries, including two children.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the municipality of Mayarí, when a Chevrolet almendrón crashed into a tree.

Also in Holguín, a motorcycle police officer - popularly known as "caballitos" - died last Friday in a traffic accident in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo.

A post in the Facebook group Accidentes Buses & Camiones indicated that the incident involved the deceased officer and a truck and occurred at the known location "Curva del Carpintero," on the Levisa - Sagua road.

On the same Friday, but in the Cuban capital, a car fell into a huge ditch opened in the roadway by the company Aguas de La Habana, in the Cerro municipality, causing significant damage to its bodywork.
