Díaz-Canel "takes all of Cuba by the hand" with a Rolex on his wrist.

At the foot of the airplane's steps, the leader welcomed the Cuban delegation in Paris 2024 wearing a Rolex GMT Master II watch valued at $13,000.

The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel went to Havana airport to welcome the delegation that participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics, and he did so holding hands with the mother of the five-time champion of Greco-Roman wrestling, Mijaín López.

The event was reported by the communication department of the Presidency, which published images of the leader at the airport runway embracing Mijaín and posing with the rest of the delegation and members of his government.

The Palace's scribes immortalized the moment with a convoluted phrase that matched the level of ridiculousness emanating from the leader of the "continuity."

"Hand in hand since she arrived at the airport, President Díaz-Canel would tenderly and affectionately guide Leonor, Mijaín's mother, as if he were bringing all of Cuba to receive our delegation at the Olympic Games," said the presidential scribes.

The tweet included a photograph in which the $13,000 Rolex GMT Master II watch worn on his wrist by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) could be seen in all its splendor.

"As if taking all of Cuba by the hand to welcome our delegation to the Olympic Games," wrote the bards of the totalitarian regime's propaganda, without noticing the evident contrast between the luxury displayed by the ruler and the ever-increasing misery of the Cubans.

The "continuity" no longer hides its standard of living and is unconcerned about the increase in inequality and social exclusion among Cubans. The "to get rich is glorious" mantra of Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping has resonated in their thinking, and under that premise, the Cuban regime is building a state capitalism (of cronies) while its leaders flaunt their jewels like revolutionary reggaeton artists.

"Nothing like showing off a new $13,000 Rolex GMT Master II to welcome the champion. This is how the president and his first lady flaunt their luxurious watches in front of a miserable people who don't even have Duralginas," observed a user identified as Taoro in a tweet.

Fidel Castro was the pioneer in rewarding his close collaborators with Rolex models. In June 2020, a retiree from the Office of Historical Affairs of the State Council recounted to CiberCuba that in the past, Celia Sánchez managed their distribution.

"Fidel gave Rolex watches to the most outstanding comrades and guanajos to many others on each anniversary of the revolution," recalled the former official.

For his part, the leader designated by his brother, General (r) Raúl Castro, has been seen on previous occasions wearing luxurious outfits while pretending to be humble and demanding sacrifices from the common people.

In December 2020, Díaz-Canel attended a demonstration organized by the regime in Trillo Park to confront the events of the San Isidro Movement, arriving in several Mercedes Benz cars and wearing an expensive Rolex watch on his wrist.

The Rolex Yacht Master 42 that Díaz-Canel was wearing on the same hand with which he greeted the dozens of people summoned - and forced - to attend the event is valued at a price of 28,900 dollars.

In January 2019, the ruler was seen during a visit to the province of Sancti Spíritus wearing a luxury TAG Heuer watch, priced at $1,750, made of blue rubber, with a matte blue ceramic bezel, compatible with iOS and Android, and with Wifi.

"What a beautiful watch, Díaz-Canel, but I'm sure it's a fake Tag Heuer from China! After all, the socialist revolutionary 'leader' of Cuba would never buy a capitalist watch for $1,700," republican Marco Rubio then joked on his social media, commenting on the ruler's appearance at the brawl in Trillo Park.

But it is not only the ruler who "sets the time" with luxury. His wife, and "not the first lady," Lis Cuesta Peraza, is also knowledgeable about the topic, as she demonstrated on the day of her doctoral thesis defense, wearing a Cartier watch valued between 5,000 and more than 12,000 dollars.

As there are no two without three, the list of holders of fine "nuts" includes the spy and national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, who proudly displays his Rolex to accuse the United States "of starving the Cubans," as well as to celebrate Mijaín's victories, "rifle" in hand in La Güinera.
