After announcing its launch in May, Cuba officially presented its electronic visa system, known as Evisa, this Thursday, as reported by the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, on social media.

The new electronic visa platform is now active. Securely, the system streamlines and simplifies the application and management processes for visas, García stated on X.

This modern and secure system streamlines and simplifies the visa application and management processes, allowing users to initiate their procedures virtually from any internet-connected device, noted the weekly magazine Tribuna de la Habana.

Initially presented during the Tourism Fair, Evisa is designed to make the process more efficient and streamline consular procedures.

With this initiative, the regime modernizes its consular infrastructure and adapts to the demands of an increasingly digital-oriented global tourism, enhancing the experience of those visiting the island.

Cuba received a total of 1,680,485 travelers during the first half of this year, according to official figures.

This represents an increase of 101.1%, which is about 18,845 more compared to the same period last year, according to a report from the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI).

This happened after a 2023 in which the regime had planned to reach 3.5 million tourists, but it only managed to achieve 70 percent of its goal in a key sector for its depressed economy.
