After a vacation in Cuba, the Argentine TikToker Georgi reported the poor conditions at an All-Inclusive hotel in Varadero, where the food buffet lacked variety, the pizza had no cheese, and the bread was "like a rock."
The young woman stated that mealtime was a challenge at the Hotel Sol Palmeras in the mentioned resort.
The only fruit available was watermelon, one had to run to get dessert, there was no chicken, and the meats varied, but if they ran out, they didn't refill the trays.
In the specialty restaurants, the food was equally poor, as shown in the video.
The comments on the post confirm that other tourists on the island had similar experiences.
"We were in Cuba in February 2024. We had a horrible time, at Melia Cayo Coco they didn't even want to give us toilet paper because they didn’t have any! Not to mention the food, a disaster, we will never go back," said a forum user identified as Anita.
"I do not understand those who say they went and swam in abundance, it's impossible, constant power outages, there are no medicines, there is no coffee, there is nothing to eat in the restaurants," stated another.
"Unfortunately, that's true; there is a shortage that affects hotels to a lesser degree... it can't be compared to Mexico, the Dominican Republic, etc. Food is the lowest point in Cuba," emphasized a third party.
In response to the constant complaints from customers, companies such as the importer Mesol have been created, under the management of Meliá Hotels International in Cuba, to supply the hotels of that company with a wide range of products, from food and beverages to cleaning supplies and kitchenware, highlighting the widespread crisis on the island.
