An animal advocate appealed for help this Saturday to those who wish to contribute towards raising $800, with the goal of purchasing a house in the countryside to establish a dog shelter in Güines, a municipality in the Mayabeque province of Cuba.

According to the message shared by Alberto Luiz Cruz on Facebook, the house they intend to purchase has ample space, water, and electricity, making it an ideal place to accommodate the animals.

The request calls on everyone who can contribute from the United States to contact the number 786-626-5818 for more information and to view photos of the property.

"It's truly very necessary," emphasizes the message, highlighting the importance of any donation, regardless of the amount.

Requests for help on social media are common, with animal protectors emphasizing that their efforts are unsustainable without community support.

Recently, animal advocates in Havana raised money to operate on a puppy that survived the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel.

Activist Teresa Díaz announced on Facebook that they raised 5,000 pesos to cover the surgery for the dog, who has a tumor on her face, as well as the transportation required to carry out the procedure.

In May, the animal protector known on social media as Miriela Ramos López warned that in some areas of Havana, cats were disappearing.

"I want to raise an alert; two days ago in Playa, near the La Puntilla store, there hasn't been a single cat left, neither stray nor domestic," she emphasized in the Facebook group "Animal Protection Society in Cuba."
