The director of the Fototeca de Cuba, Lisette Ríos Lozano, passed away on the afternoon of this Sunday in Havana at the age of 54, for reasons that were not disclosed by the National Council of Plastic Arts (CNAP), the institution that reported her death.
"The team of workers at CNAP mourns the passing today in the afternoon of the Director of the Fototeca de Cuba, Lisette Ríos Lozano. Our deepest condolences go out to family, colleagues, and friends," they wrote in a Facebook post.
Ríos Lozano took office as the head of the main institution that acquires, organizes, preserves, and catalogs photographs in Cuba in 2020.
She was described as a "conservator of photographic collections and responsible for the Photographic Archive of the Fototeca de Cuba," according to the site Arte Informado.
He defined his interests in photography "in all its facets and styles." In addition to researching "from the institution's collections and private collections, which has allowed me to curate various themes, working with both historical images and contemporary photographers."
He added that he was fascinated by "ancient processes, which is why I follow the work of alternative photography."
He was born on July 9, 1970. There have been several reactions of grief over his passing.
