Mansions in Havana are being sold for 800 thousand and 600 thousand dollars.

Two luxurious properties in Havana are being sold for 800,000 and 600,000 USD, prices that are unaffordable for most Cubans.

In the midst of the economic crisis that Cuba is experiencing, marked by food shortages, transportation issues, housing problems, and mass emigration, two mansions have gone on sale in the real estate market in Havana at prices that seem intended for a very select group of potential buyers.

These two residences, located in the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución and Playa, are offered for $800,000 and $600,000, respectively. These figures are unattainable for the vast majority of working Cubans, not only those within the island; even some who have been in exile for decades would also be unable to afford them.

Living in Nuevo Vedado comes at a high price.

The first of these properties is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Nuevo Vedado and was built in 1957, during a remarkable decade for architecture in Cuba.

It offers a combination of elegance and functionality that few can match. Priced at 800,000 USD, this two-level house has a total of 9 rooms and 7 full bathrooms, making it ideal for a large family or for someone with an entrepreneurial vision and resources to turn it into a hostel.

The property includes three fully equipped kitchens, two garages, and additional space to park up to 6 cars.

In addition, it has a large garden and a charming terrace, perfect for enjoying the tropical climate of Havana. Despite its excellent structural condition, the new owners will need to make some minor investments in paint and other details, although it is ready to move in immediately.

An elegant residence in Playa

The second property, valued at 600,000 USD, is located in the municipality of Playa, an area known for its tranquility and proximity to important healthcare centers and businesses.

This house was built in 1959. It has an area of more than 1,200 square meters and is comprised of two floors and a basement. Some modifications have been made that detract from its appearance, such as the installation of aluminum carpentry, which has nothing to do with its original design, but it is in perfect condition to live in.

On the ground floor, the residence has a garden, foyer, living room, covered terrace, lounge, dining room, kitchen, service patio, and two bathrooms.

On the second floor, there are 3 rooms, 3 bathrooms, a hall, and an uncovered terrace that offers a perfect space to relax outdoors.

The basement includes a living-dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a service patio, making it an ideal option for an extended family or for those who wish to have an independent space within the same property.

In the exterior area, the house has 4 utility rooms, a bathroom, a covered terrace, and garages. Additionally, the property includes a separate apartment with a living room, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom, which could be used as guest accommodation or as an additional source of income if rented out.

These luxurious properties, despite their undeniable appeal, are out of reach for most Cubans, whose average monthly salary does not exceed 20 dollars.

Even for those who have emigrated in search of better opportunities, the possibility of acquiring a home in Cuba like these to give to their families remains a distant dream.
