In light of the shock caused by the quadruple murder that occurred on Saturday in the town of Ceballos, the state-run press, which usually ignores cases of murder and other serious crimes, has had no choice but to speak out.

The weekly Invasor shared a brief editorial in which it reveals the names and ages of the victims.

"Among the deceased is Richard Dariel Núñez, a four-year-old boy. The rest of the crime victims are named Lester Rivadeneira Rodríguez, a 17-year-old; Yamila Reyes Tamayo, 29; and Raysa Rodríguez Pérez de Corcho, 50," it details.

The note adds that the competent authorities are investigating the causes of the crime and that as soon as there are enough pieces of evidence, the public will be informed.

"The revolutionary justice will once again be responsible for cutting impunity at its roots," says the text.

"Crimes with serious consequences like this provoke immediate popular condemnation, in whose name the main authorities of the province express their condolences to family and friends," it concludes.

Although Invasor does not specify the family relationships of the victims, it has been confirmed that there are two families. Yamila Reyes Tamayo (29 years old) was the mother of little Richard Dariel Núñez.

Although this is the only official information, as the hours pass, some details of this horrendous murder are becoming known on social media.

According to a neighbor who spoke to the independent portal CubaNet, the incident occurred between 6:00 and 7:00 am on Saturday, after the father of the four-year-old boy left for work (to his farm).

"Apparently they broke in to steal some money that the man had from sales," said the source on the condition of anonymity.

Raysa and her son Lester were in the house next door, and upon hearing the screams of their neighbors, they rushed to help them and were also massacred.

CubaNet reports that the incident occurred in the "old bakery" neighborhood of Ceballos. The neighbor said that the thieves were hiding in an abandoned house in front of Yamila and her husband's home.
