A Cuban resident in Miami Gardens was arrested for biting his ex-wife and attempted to kill her daughter in the house where they both live.

The incident occurred last Wednesday night when Luis Damas, 64 years old, went to the apartment of his ex, with whom he was married for 13 years and from whom he separated six months ago.

According to the arrest report, which Local 10 obtained, when he knocked on the door, she came out and told him she was with a friend and would talk to him later. At 10:00 PM, they both met when the two were walking down the hallway.

When the friend took the elevator and left, Damas began to argue with the victim, asking her where her stepdaughter was, saying "that she was the reason they couldn't be together." Then he pushed her inside the apartment, and once there, he pulled out a weapon and said he would kill her.

He then entered a room where his stepdaughter was, who tried to hide under a mattress. The Cuban said, "I'm going to kill you" and shot her once, but missed. In response, both of them started to struggle with him to try to disarm him.

Damas began to bite his ex-partner all over her body, to which she tried to defend herself by hitting him with a wine bottle while pleading with him "to please stop and calm down so they could talk."

The man stopped biting her, "but held onto (his stepdaughter) by the hair while she was sitting on the sofa, not allowing her to leave," the report states.

Sitting with the weapon under his thigh, he demanded that his ex help him "clean the scene" and forced her to "sweep and mop the floor and collect all the evidence from the scene and put it in a blue trash bag."

Finally, he threatened them by saying he would "have hitmen he knew kill them" if they reported him to the Police.

Mother and daughter accused him the next day and went to Jackson Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

Luis Damas was arrested at his home on Friday and was transferred this Monday without bail to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) in Miami-Dade.

He is facing two charges of robbery with assault or injury, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon, and aggravated assault with a firearm, as well as additional charges of attempted evidence tampering and aggravated assault, totaling nine felonies.
